I know/interact with lots of East Asians and I've been noticing that in the last few years quite a few of them, especially the second generation ones have become pretty vocal SJWs. Like when everybody's hanging out or something they love to start bringing up politics and if you express any reservations/hold views that are not 100% aligned with the Democrats, BLM, etc. they'll take it really personally and immediately jump on you and get super worked up. It's kinda bizarre to me because I also know a fair number of whites and hispanics and literally none of them seem to be nearly as passionate or vocal about these things. The weirdest part was last year when a bunch of my East Asian friends came out really strongly supporting Proposition 16 which was going to reinstate affirmative action in California, which would probably hurt a lot of Asians in terms of their college/career opportunities, but they all just kinda dodged the question or shrugged it off when I asked them about that aspect of it. Fortunately that didn't pass, but now I'm really wondering if this is all just some kind of virtue signaling act or what is going on here? Have you guys noticed this as well? #politics #uspolitics
"Virtue signaling" define this
Basically deep down they don't really care or believe in the causes they claim to support, but outwardly they still toe the party line and make some loud empty gestures in hopes of ingratiating themselves with certain people or organizations.
And what certain people or organizations would those be? Genuinely curious
Find new friends, they’ve been indoctrinated way too deeply. As for why, my guess is that they were exposed to SJW concepts at a young and impressionable age, and their parents were immigrants who were too unfamiliar with SJWs to know to steer their kids away. Similar to religion, except it’s the parents who expose their kids to religion.
100% the education
Noticed the same. Asian Americans don't care about their own community as much, and more about others' rights. The same liberal AAs who were super vocal about BLM were also silent about the recent AA attacks. My theory is that standing for others' rights makes AAs feel more included. Otherwise they're mostly invisible and irrelevant. It's basically like trend hopping in a way.
I second this as well. Those I know who advocate for others (which is good) for some reason are kind of ambivalent towards attacks on their own. Their way of feeling "included" is quite sad.
It's explainable actually, but still my theory. They don't care about their own communities because American society is quite anti-Asian in general, which is why AAs are irrelevant to begin with. This produces internalized racism, especially when AAs have these dual identities. They are hurt and trying to find acceptance.
blah blah AM radio, fox news, newsmax...hail our savior trump. i finished your mantra for you.
School system indocrination.
Asians are very well educated and educational institutions are breeding grounds for collectivist ideologies
Immigrants don't lack empathy. Immigrants are way too busy working their asses off to be interested in snowflake rhetoric. They're too busy earning a seat at the table.
Most asians are from Cali & NY, thats your answer
Very simple actually. Educated, affluent, urban, white America is more liberal (and SJWs) than less educated, less affluent, rural white population. And a significant majority of Asian Americans are well educated, affluent, and live in urban settings. So they "all" seem to SJWs. It is not a race thing. They just have the luxury to be SJWs.
This theory doesn't explain why AA's don't care about their own community. Only explains why they care about trending social issues.
"Their community" is the rest of America. Why is it more desirable for them to get stuck in the tribalism of prior generations?

Most likely because most of them grew up in urban or suburbs of very liberal cities. Their aunts uncles Cousins were also held the same beliefe as them. I have noticed this with second generation Indians as well. You have to understand that East Asia and India is still admire collectivism, where they think its OK to disregard individual rights if it's "for a good cause" .
