Not sure about the other FAANG companies. But Amazon doesnt have open spaces to work at. Team spaces are overcrowded. Almost seems like old school office space but with standing desks. TC: 180k #engineering #swe
The new Amazon campus (downtown Seattle) is pretty great, this seems like more of a problem of the old days that was solved with the construction of the new campus
Oh please. I worked in Day 1, that shit was crowded as hell. I had to turn and slide out from between two desks to get out everytime I wanted to go out.
Crowded isn’t necessarily a negative thing per se, many people like the density of the open office, but what your describing doesn’t sound like the norm if it’s hard to move around.
Disagree, check out the new buildings in Seattle such as Day-1, re:Invent
Workspace is fine actually. But this company treats employees as shit. Really toxic culture.
Buildings that Amazon own or lease fully are nice. The ones where we lease only a few floors are the bad ones
Well at the least you got access to restroom to pee.
We have a shitty Apple office.
People who say new buildings like day1 are better, have you really worked out of them? I have worked in Day 1. The place is shiny and fancy but not really practical. Desks are too close and it feels crowded all the time. And don't get me started on the horror of finding restrooms. There's probably 150 people working on each floor and they only have 2 urinals + 3 booths per floor for men. Going to the restroom is a treasure hunt for open booths. I'm not sure if this is frupidity or utter lack of planning. I found Sunnyvale offices better.
+1 people saying Day 1 is better are lying or just don't know what "better" is.
Re:Invent is cool but just before pandemic they moved our team into Nitro that gives blue collar job type feeling!!!
What are you saying? In Seattle, we have the Blueshift building which lets gangsters do shooting practice on you. Nothing like the sound of indiscriminate bullets zipping around you after a long hard day.

Peaceful Protest Hasn’t Worked and Has Been Met With Aggression.
When frugality is a core tenant, That's the shit you get. Amazon is great if you are Director or up. Sucks for everybody else.
