Compared to Asian airline companies, seems like American airline companies have horrible service. Why is this the case? Is TC less than international companies?
TC? Dude they pay the flight staff home country wages. Therefore, Asian airline staff most likely earn much less than American staff. Support staff (maintenance, checkin, corporate) also make less. Just read the news, you’ll see articles about American ones trying to keep international ones out as much as possible, to hard to compete.
They arent state sponsored.
This right here is the answer
They aren't state-sponsored as much as Asian (ANA, EVA, Cathay, China Southern) or Middle Eastern (Emirates, Qatar) airlines. Aa result the US3 (Delta, United, American) must keep their internal costs low to maintain their $5 per (economy) passenger profit. Business class is a different topic. Also labor costs aren't everything. There are permitting costs to fly through airspace, jet fuel, and maintenance costs. And finally, economy passengers care about one thing, and one thing only. Ticket price. They'll gladly be herded like sheep and sit in a non-reclining seat if it means saving $20-50 on the ticket. This is also true in Asia/Europe. Give Asia some time, their service will also come down into the gutter like the US.
US3...you're missing one bud, make that US4. Only North American airline to make Top 10 TripAdvisor Global Airline Rankings(#7). Our Net Performer Score is ranked in the top 10 brands of the world. We compete with Apple, Starbucks, and Google on this, no other airline is close. We also have the largest market cap(we trade off with Delta on this) and have been the most consistently profitable...in arguably the world. Yet we get treated like an underdog in every conversation. Our domestic operation dwarfs the total flights flown of ANY airline in the world too if we want to take size and our fleet size is in the top 3 I believe.
Sure but to be taken seriously try to not climb into the overhead bins? Cool you want to have fun. It is possible to enjoy work without behaving like high school kids in flip flops, shorts, t-shirts for work at work? Painful just no. Put more clothes on
Because of mergers and less competition
I have a feeling you are comparing international Asian flights vs. local US carrier routes.
Capitalism Baby!
I love how every thread conveniently ignores Southwest 😂 so I'm always here. Friendly reminder that Southwest was the only North American Airline to qualify for Trip Advisors best Airlines of the world. I believe we placed #7 overall, worldwide.
I still prefer first/business/premium economy, amenity kits international travel, put up with abuse from crew and gate personnel, delays cancellations versus traveling with Southwest
Cool, I personally wish more of those customers travel with AA than SWA 🙂 we have never tried to cater to every customer, hence our resounding success.
Because 15-30% of ticketed revenue is immediately turned over to government to pay “taxes & fees” Plus unionization results in 100 year old grouchy agents and attendants. Plus US airlines are not state sponsored. All that said, US Airlines sure as hell need to do better than they are. They suck. (Except Southwest prob)
Unionization is one reason. The other is sectoral monopoly. Finally consumers don’t pay for convenience....so an airline that has good service can’t make more profit. So no incentive for good service
Yea Southwest would like a word... we're the most unionized airline, most profitable over our lifetime too(Delta has overtaken but they also got to reset in bankruptcy court). Largest market cap(we compete with Delta on this) too.
