So I have two years of experience in dotnet and Azure. I opted for masters in computer science from United States and chose state university so that I can easily pay off my student debt. I worked very hard on leetcode, did read the book system design by Alex xu. I know I can easily manage any software development intern role at any company but still not getting any chance because I am an international student with no relatives here. Now one of my roommate got his brother placed here at Apple at top position. He never visited any conferences or job fair still got an offer from google just because his brother asked his batch mates in google to refer him. Its not jealousy but I feel at least everyone should given a chance to sit for coding round at least and from there you can easily figure out whose capable.
Meta doesn't allow referral for internships or new grad positions
To be fair, you can still do it without referrals as long as your resume is strong (esp for internship, no clue about NCG). I don’t actually know how strong referrals are unless the person has (a LOT of) sway within the company (a lot of my friends got referrals but no interviews). If you’re not getting first round calls, you probably need to review your resume.
