Just got scheduled for a surprise 1:1 with my skip today
I thought housing was all about location location location. But then why people are buying houses 10+ minute drive from downtowns for high premiums? Im literally living in downtown Bellevue for quite cheap right now (3k rent), a house I saw in Kirkland suburbia is 1.4M (8.5k/mo) for same square footage. My location is way better, I can walk to work/restaurants/groceries etc. the fk? Why would you ever buy?
They are the same thing. Living space in a location
Apt != House. Sqft is not the only thing. It could be the same for you, but not for most ppl. A homeless can argue a tent under a bridge is the same as a apt with the same sqft - living space in a location. But many disagree.
A house comes with land. An apartment doesn't.
It does come for appts with shared ownership - divided equally across all owners
Because they don't want to be crammed in with strangers.
Square footage is the same
Square footage alone doesn’t matter They have a private yard and no walls shared with neighbors
That’s an assumption that Bellevue location or downtown is better. Location is defined by crime rates, homeless, school districts and other factors that are important for family. You really are either single miserable person or clueless fresh grad who thinks living in downtown is cool.
💯% agree 👆
Dam you sound angry. I am happily married
Only people who can't buy cars care about walkable neighborhoods.
Well that’s a dumb take
I can buy a really expensive car but am very, very anti-car and pro public transportation. Cars and car infrastructure just do not scale.
Fewer undesirables to deal with and I don’t mind driving. I also don’t see investing in downtown real estate as a strong investment given that RTO is as limited as prosecution for stabbings.
Stepping over crackheads is part of the downtown experience though.
The suburbs are generally better for families. Do you know what a family is?
Just different lifestyles obviously. I like going downtown, and don’t mind driving 5 minutes to so. I go there maybe once a week
The reason you have cheap rent because market says that nobody cares about that area and they found you. Tell me how many cranes you see on your walk? Is there a direction you can look at that has more trees than houses.
Better schools and more living space
Bellevue downtown schools are better and square footage is the same
Aren’t people working at Google supposed to be smart? Do you think square footage and quality of house are the same thing? I don’t know if anyone in Bellevue can afford a house with backyard. Most of houses in 1M are meth lab built prior to 1950s.
