Serious question: why do people put GHC on LinkedIn title? You're free to put whatever you want on whatever profiles you have, but I don't get the point of GHC as your LinkedIn title. Usually, the title is something that shows a lot of hard work was put in. For example, [major] at [college/university] or [role] at [company] or [rank] in [something competitive, sports, chess, game, programming, etc] or [recipient] of [award]. Not sure what putting GHC on your title does. As an opposing point, many very high level people put irrelevant or funny titles on their LinkedIn, but they know there's big demand for their skills. #GHC #LinkedIn #Careers #Resume
What's GHC
For the same reason people list their MBAs even though the exams can be aced by GPT-2: signaling to other attendees.
TC or GTFO.
GHC == Grace Hopper Conference
Ugh. This again.
It makes sense to put it during GHC. You get to search for people who will be going. It should be removed afterwards. I just did as I had forgotten to remove it
I received a full scholarship to attend Grace Hopper, so I’m proud of being chosen out of thousands.
Lol. Most companies have a PR and branding budget allocated for sending their employees there and other such pointless conferences for visibility. And most often you wouldn't even need to do anything to qualify. So you're proud to be picked in a lottery? Congrats.
A company didn’t send me. I was in undergrad with no money. GHC gave me a scholarship to fly out and attend. You do need something to qualify. What I did to qualify was write a personal statement and get two letters of recommendations, which I worked on for months. I am proud. It’s not a lottery. Unless you’ve gone through the process, why be so negative?
Don't worry OP, GHC doesn't help people get jobs with preference 😉
When you’re adding each other you can find them easily
