I have seen many interesting research works being published by Nvidia. However, the works do not seem to be very relevant to Nvidia's core business. Some examples include StyleGAN, SPADE, and InstantNGP. Do these research teams generate any revenue? #tech
Yes, they are doing research only possible with massive parallel computing mostly using GPUs.
And here the research team is getting stronger and stronger
These research *can* become the building blocks of core businesses. I guess neural rendering and neural scene reconstruction are helping their efforts to build their self-driving simulation environments, which is their core business "Omniverse"
🙌
To sell GPUs obviously.
Raytracing in real-time requires ML.
To sell ads, senator.
LOL.

Principal Software Engineer TC~300K at Microsoft vs 600K at Meta. Is 300k pretty low for Principal scope?
Few people/companies have the capabilities or financial incentive to seriously research AI/ML. NVIDIA makes money through selling GPUs, so by investing in advancing the state of the art and accessibility of AI/ML they increase the size of the market demand for GPUs, and therefore make more money for themselves.
