I noticed that some of the fintech, hedge fund & HFT companies(Bloomberg, Citadel, Two sigma, jane street, HRT…) don’t have job postings in india or other offshoring locations. Is there a tax law or government policy that makes these companies only hire within the U.S? Most other companies have jobs posted in India or other countries to save cost (even big tech).
They are much more risk averse.
Bloomberg is in India but other firms don't hire that much and they don't need to because they can find top 1% people in US/EU easily and don't have to worry about reducing costs.
lol what kind of logic is this? If companies don't hire in India it must be due to some sort of law preventing them, lol.
Or…. They don’t want to.
HRT has an India office, what nonsense is this?
wait really?
This is not a secret, all the office locations are listed on our home page
You can’t have company culture by outsourcing to places like India where half of the time you have trouble understanding what your colleagues are saying due to language barrier and accents.
Indians English accents are better understandable to Americans than many European English accents
DE Shaw has a big India office. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Bloomberg and HRT both have offices in India tho? Hell, they both have a ton of offices everywhere in the world. There’s laws concerning how fintech companies store their data but idt there are any laws blocking them to hire people from other countries/offshore work… they usually have a much larger US presence as most of their work is done in the US market, having a strong engineering presence when the market is open helps out a lot if there are unexpected bugs for clients/internally (at least for Bloomberg)
Why do you assume it has to be due to some law or government policy? We have tons of employees all over the world. If your biggest argument in favor of hiring in India is to cut costs, well, that's not really something we care about.
I think “we don’t care about cutting costs” is a totally foreign concept in some places.

PM is irrelevant role and will die in next 2-3 years.
you don't save money by hiring in India, and especially not in HFT.
