Why is Lyft still hiring?
saw recruiters on Linkedin saying eng is hiring at Lyft but the rideshare industry is pretty much non existant currently. Why would they hire people who they will likely layoff in a few months? seems pretty shitty
Hell, for example Lime has had the same job postings on their site since January. No changes. It's all for optics.
But recruiters posted themselves saying we are hiring, why would they do that? Seems like a trap

Probably because they are continuing green card sponsorships for existing employees and they need to demonstrate that they couldn't find any citizen or existing resident that would satisfy their requirements

I don’t think companies would do this. This is fraud and the consequences are not worth it for the company.

Remember that Lyft is only interviewing and NOT giving away any offers. They are just playing a safe game!
I can confirm
They are placing people who clear their hiring bar on their pipeline, so once the situation gets better, they can onboard them. That’s a smart move by them, but the point is how many of them would still hold on to this by then without accepting other offers.
