Women, help me understand why this is inspirational
Startups are typically unstable, have worse benefits, hours, internal culture, pay, etc and yet they're like the only ones hiring, at least in NYC. Why is that? I'm about to lose my job so I may have no choice here.
When the big tech lays off, shit tier start-ups can hire the desperate at discount price. Then, the employees jump to big tech once big tech starts hiring again. Rinse and repeat

Some of the most successful startups were founded in “down” years ex: Uber in 2009. Job market was awful during that period.
If no one wants to work there, they'll always have unfilled headcount. People who end up working there are doing so as a stop-gap so they'll always be needing to backfill when those folks leave for greener pastures.
Are there even greener pastures in this market?
