Why is windows start menu search so bad?

Can someone from MS chime in here? An example someone posted on Reddit: a....Add or remove programs al....Calculator all...Settings allo....Allow an app through Windows Firewall. allow...No results found for ‘allow’ I don’t know anything about search but is this technically a really hard problem? What is wrong with the architecture of this feature that it works so poorly?

Some PM designed it so the metrics on their dashboard would look better.

If I had to guess, it's because they would have a bunch of modular search providers,.and some of them are slow or can fuck it up for the others. A sane system would require the various parties to register their keywords to a central index, so it's just one centralized thing to get right. Basically, Microsoft can't ship any software not structured exactly like their org chart.

Why do you even use Windows? I am FORCED to use it, but I'd be surprised it anyone at Amazon was forced to use it. I happily use linux at home.
