Some guy was telling m X3 at walmart is basically SDE 1 at a FAANG company... what?? Why even have the rankings at all if they don't translate between companies? Just go back to junior-senior instead of trying to figure out if a SDE 3 from company has only done junior level work lol 151k TC
You can be a senior at some random Fortune 500 and have no idea how to have your service run at 7 9’s in reliability and with latency in milliseconds for millions of request per day
You get titles not from being skilled or experienced but by negotiating during interviews and ass kissing for promotions
You get low level titles that way. At some point if you want to break into the higher ranks you need to stay at a company for more than a few years, and prove yourself, and get promoted
Promoted by kissing your boss's ass
You can join a startup and be a director. Truth is there is no standard
^ levels.fyi website is the closest you can get to a standard ranking. Many companies inflate titles to entice candidates.
Is the level based on salary or YOE?
