Amazon hasn't converted any of their interns (both in India and the UK) who completed their internships in 2023. Do you see the situation getting any better next year? I have an internship offer from Amazon(Alexa Team in the UK), but I don't know if it's worth the risk. I don't really want to be jobless when I graduate. I also have another offer from a startup who are paying 40% of what Amazon will be paying (for both FTE and Internship, adjusted PPP), the chances of them converting me is nearly 100%[did a summer internship with them, got a return offer]. What should be the better choice here? From what I know and have heard, WLB is similar in both companies. I'm slightly inclined towards Amazon because of the UK experience. Please put your thoughts below. TC: 6L ($7500) from current internship. Also, I'm open to referrals for New Grad SWE Roles :) #tech #Amazon #Startups #India #UK #Referrals #software #swe #engineering
It’s all fun and games and yolo from people with established careers… but the reality is very much not fun and games. You do your internship, try your best, then go out to the workforce and aren’t supported by Amazon and can’t land a job anywhere else. As soon as you realize you have student loan payments coming up, can’t pay rent and can’t afford gas or groceries. That’s the position me and many more new grads are in right now despite having “great” experience at Amazon and other internships. Op, take Amazon if you truly can’t find anything better that will work with you on return opportunities. Taking Amazon might be a good opportunity but it might also lead to absolutely nothing like it has for me so far. Best of luck op and just know that it is risky as you have mentioned.

Go to the UK - have fun! Don't try to over optimise your career for your life at this stage. Even if Amazon doesn't give you return offer, with the experience on the resume you will get some full time offer.

Lmao, that’s funny I have 9 months internship ( 6 sde intern amazon and 3 months startup ). I am barely getting any interview and it’s already been 4 months and thousands of applications. And above that I am not alone there are hundreds of inclined interns like me.
