Tech companies to avoid as a white guy?
Google wiped out 12k people today, which in my opinion will start Domino effect for the rest of tech companies. It gives them a really excuse for doing layoffs. So, will gaming industry start layoff people soon? What's your thought? Given the fact that stock of some gaming companies, like EA, have been very stable. And they didn't overhire like FANG during past of years. I think the probability is low but still could happen. I'm not at AMZN anymore, but somehow Blind allows me to continue using this account. TC: 200k but 0 if laid off (on H1B) YOE: ~2 #gaming #ea #epic #h1b #layoff #sony #playstation
Gaming might see some layoffs soon but not at the levels of Google, Microsoft and Amazon.
Aren't game developers notoriously overworked already, can't imagine laying off more people
Depends on company as it’s been a shrinking market lately. However, we’re constantly making around $2 million in profit per employee per year, so there’s pressure to grow rather than shrink. Growing for us is difficult as small totally independent teams has been the core of the culture.
Google is not the first company to lay off people to “start a domino effect” by any means
There already have been multiple gaming layoffs
lol at "starting the domino effect for other tech companies"OP your first day on blind or you've been living under a rock? Layoffs been happening for a while now lool
Amazon did layoffs before google (so did meta and Msft)
Anything is possible, but by far Sony has been focused on tightening the budget since last year.
Microsoft just announced layoffs at their gaming devs
> "will start a domino effect" Bruh...
just my own opinion: https://www.teamblind.com/post/Googles-layoff-will-be-a-Domino-Effect-for-the-Tech-industry-5V2tm5Zt
Gaming companies are notorious for layoffs OP.
