There are a lot of companies that were in a bubble in 2021 that have now crashed 50% or more. How are they planning to retain employees that are sitting on devalued grants? Imagine you joined Meta in the summer and people joining six months after you will have almost twice as much equity as you. It's even worse for Snap, Twitter, and others. Google adjusted the strike price for underwater options during the 2008 crash, are we going to see something similar, but at a larger scale?
Are you new to tech? The timing of joining has always been everything. Even back in 2012, those who joined 6 months apart at FB could have a 2-2.5x pay spread difference.
People don’t admit that a large part of our TC is luck.
Robinhood gave a new adjustment grant for new joinees
How did that work? Like was it on first anniversary cause everyone would have had different stock price
Everyone who got grants above a certain threshold got adjustment refreshers
Too early to adjust anything unless they start bleeding talent.
No way Jose …two words… bottom line of an income statement … party is nearly over … all we need now is a 0.50 fed hike and we will get in March based on the way oil prices are flying
What I would expect is that new offers come with significant lower TC. As you said is all about equity
This is one of the more insightful responses. Maybe that's one of the reasons Google has supposedly been low-balling people lately. We might be able to snap up lots of talent at a discount due to all these other stocks crashing.
Unlikely in the current market, as most expect stocks to bounce back in the 3-4 year timeframe - but companies may consider if the job market trends start to change.
Doubt it. Now imagine being me and joining Meta two weeks ago lol
I joined in the summer at $350
Snap did
Won’t after today’s earnings…😅
Nah you will get the RSUs to fill the gap as part of our ongoing performance review happening now. So if the stock getting lower you will get more RSU
Only if you are ready to give back equity when it rises. Rsu is risk/reward
