Probably not because they are further removed from the revenue generating parts of the company but there will always be exceptions
Security will always be viewed as a cost, dev will always be viewed as the product/money maker. Unfortunately this is how management thinks about it, and probably will forever more.

I work in security and we get paid fraction of what SWEs make.
Amazon pays security engineers well above SDEs, the recent push in security domain is huge with both companies and the US govt. showing interest and with talent shortage companies are willing to pay higher

I’d argue security engineers and architects at some companies already are making more money than SWEs. That’s not indicative of the entire industry though. Devs will always make more has a whole. Now, consultants who come in post-breach, that’s the real 💰 🔥
Are we talking private consultants with their own wiki pages? Know a few consultants with active public presence and fairly prestigeous background, but their TCs are peanuts compared to SWE counterparts.
