People who aren't ready to wear a mask, I want to understand your reasons. Here is my original post: https://us.teamblind.com/s/ewsFHs5y Almost 15% voted they won't wear a mask. I want to hear mostly from them. Also want to understand why there cannot be a strict lockdown for 15 days across the country. Look at what New Zealand has already achieved. Do you not want to get there too? https://youtu.be/XFHBqiVRzl4 I'm frustrated at America's response to this pandemic. Cases are on the rise and unless the administration wakes up now, we're in for a long term shake up to our lives.
It is not American to wear mask
I talked to my German friend. They had 2 months of regulations where they couldn't meet anyone but just one member of another family, etc. How every German follows things like wearing a mask and washing hands as it's their moral responsibility. Things are getting back to normal there now. And everything is open. And then he was so amused how America is a shit show for the entire world to see, because people would associate simple things like not wearing a mask as being their right. The entire world is noticing it.
Siemens, how so?
It is not worth any lockdowns Keep the elderly and immune compromised in masks, the rest get the antibodies through exposure What NZ has done is not scalable. You can’t shut down every time a handful of people are infected Any vaccines that come also will be time limited, requiring periodic shots to keep those immune antibodies active We already know medicines like HCQ are prophylactic when used early enough with no side effects from the Ford study and others. That is scalable . Make that available OTC like Advil and we have a path to reopening And the media, should quit scaring people and politicians into lockdowns
What about your Mom and Dad? They can wear a mask, but if you sneeze they're infected. Both people who're infected and who are prone to infection have to wear a mask. See the studies. What if I live with my Mom and Dad?
Also there are multiple posts on YouTube and otherwise where perfectly young people have died/almost died. There was a post by a LinkedIn employee who had a minor escape. What you're saying is let it happen. The world doesn't live with that selfish attitude. Offices won't open and we'll continue to live the way we are. Schools won't open. Why? Because America refuses to do anything about it. Even China has done a great job at limiting the virus. We're in this shit show because everyone wants to act like a Doctor.
Sigh—blame Trump. He has create an atmosphere of strife. He is the one who made wearing a mask a political statement. He won’t admit he was wrong—so we all have to suffer. It’s that simple. All of the Trump folks are just following his stupid lead. It’s the same with police killing unarmed citizens—but folks don’t want to admit any administrative or societal fault, so they just act like everything “else” is the problem—but the the “actual” problem. Wearing a mask is just another casualty of this stupid American mindset.
Maybe authorities saying that outdoor gatherings spread covid but the protests don't have some blame to take?
Everyone is jobless right now. What should we do? Let's protest. I think it was stupid to gather in such large numbers and it surely has contributed to where we are.
Wtf? This is so demonstrable wrong
Sorry what about working at Cruise?
America treats this situation as war-like. They are ready to sacrifice a few lives to retain their freedom, rights and economy. America is probably the only country in the world which never went on a proper lockdown.
Sigh. You are right and I'm just fed up.
US democracy gives a lot of autonomy to each State. Some states are doing a good job like WA. Of course travel allowance between States and national news media can have local impact, but a State can still force travelers do self-quarantine like NY and Hawai are doing. That means you should criticize each State response more than the National response, and comparing US with countries that don’t use US democracy system is pointless. Regarding your original question about masks, I think the 15% vote to not use masks is low enough to be considered good news. Remember that democracy allows stupidity to manifest, and yet this is better than any autocratic system like China. Of course some crisis are better managed by authoritarian regimes, but on the long run democracies are far better places to live. I also agree to praise NZ response, but there are hundred countries and statistically some of them would excel others. America may be top in many things, but we all know that public healthcare is not one of them. At least there is hope that we learn something. We’ll see in next elections.
WA good job?? Horrible during protest times. Mandating with masks yes
I'm criticizing response as a whole. I do not care if it's national or state wide. And I agree with your points there. On the second part: Mandating a mask is not authoritarian. It's like mandating a seat belt in cars. A lot of democratic countries across the world have implemented it. SMH. Germany, India, etc. are all democratic countries. Also democracy doesn't mean you cannot create rules for people to follow in mass interest. There would just be no rules otherwise, sighting everything as freedom. Democracy doesn't mean every man for themselves. A democracy doesn't mean you let people do what they want.
NZ is so sparsely populated.
Look at China, Germany, Australia. America is the worst affected country in the world
Dear, it’s ok for you to cite Germany and Australia. But China? Come on! They persecuted doctors that denounced the severity of Covid-19. They are an authoritarian government that impose censorship and ethnic cleansing through what they call “re-education camps”. Their top politicians are involved in a billion dollar illegal market for organ harvesting. Not to mention the millions of deaths in the Great Leap Forward, perpetrated by the very same communist party in power today. China can’t be cited as example of any kind of good public welfare.
Bugs are more expensive to fix later in sdlc than earlier. Exactly the same situation here. US failed to act early and impose lockdowns. Then we had all the protests and people flocking to beaches, etc. I’m actually really concerned as we get closer to the flu season.
There’s no scientific proof that you are immune - in fact there are early studies suggesting that immunity is limited Masks are not a political issue - they have been made another divisive topic by the leadership of this country. Wearing a mask is not a political statement - it says you care more than just about your self-centered self Get a clue
Ok so you are telling us here that you are so brainwashed by media and politicians that you actually think people who wear masks are pledging their allegiance to a certain party? Friend, life is not so complicated. Mask serves no other purpose other than protecting yourself and others. As part of the community, this is the least we can do.
Many countries had strict lock down and it failed. I think part of the problem is that each side manipulates data to show contradicting points all the time
Can you name those countries?
Pretty much all of south America except Brazil
