Work culture at WalmartLabs Sunnyvale

I'm about to join WalmartLabs Sunnyvale office. I'm curious as to how is their work culture? What are the perks of working over their? Is their a webpage where they list their shuttle bus timing and routes?

Work culture in Walmart depends on team and manager. I know there is a bus schedule in our internal portal, you should be able to get it during your orientation.

I'm trying to finalize my apartment even before orientation. Is their no way I can get an idea about the possible bus stops in around Santa Clara/ San Jose area?

I don’t think there is any bus stop in santa clara/ san jose area. Most of bus routes are for longer routes like fremont or north bay.

Ask your manager, he should be able to provide that

Dude no buses to Santa Clara and most of San Jose. May be there's a bus to evergreen. Most of the buses ply to east bay.

Other perks stuff is definitely 1000 times better than cognizant so don't worry

It's obvious but I was curious.

Check with recruiter/HR . I heard there is a bus from north san jose. Not sure though.

How do you like working over their?

There's a shuttle from any/most nearby Walmart Neighborhood Grocery to the offices in Sunnyvale, in the mornings and evenings. There's a website about the schedule but it's probably not public. They're pretty reasonable times I think.

As for culture, it depends on your team. I can speak for one of the larger frontend teams and I gotta say I love my team, as diverse and energetic as it is. I've taken some part in the early days (before the team size blew up) in a culture of mentorship and sharing knowledge, which has been fruitful because now everyone "pays it forward" to teach others. Even recent hires try to do this with the even newer hires. Walmart Sunnyvale in general seems like the teams are very professional and not very casual though, unless you're in the Vudu building. I've been told that the people at Jet or Walmart Bentonville have a more casual culture. I don't know if it speaks to the bay area at large but expect it to be heavily Indian and Chinese; though you will be welcome everywhere, so it's never a problem. I've hardly seen favoritism anywhere. No one has an ego here, a majority of people are very happy with Walmart, and if they do have an ego, they usually quit Walmart soon. There's a lot of openness and willingness to help employees, although there is a lack of direction in terms of getting that support (think training, office vibe). They are trying in improving food, the cafeteria in Sunnyvale just got remodeled.

Thanks everyone for your responses! I found an apartment within 10 mins drive, so I don't need shuttle anymore. Tomorrow is my Day 1 orientation at WalmartLabs. I'm very excited to join you guys.
