Are companies rejecting job applications if they have to provide work sponsorship to candidates? A graduate student friend of mine told me that for some of the internship positions he applied for, recruiters got back asking if he needed work sponsorship in the future and that they prefer to consider candidates who don’t need work sponsorship in the future.
That’s really sad and scary. With the current state, the number of students coming to the US for their MS is going to drastically reduce. Wish immigration was not so hard here. Sigh.
If the a company does not support h1b for new grads then likely they don’t want F1 students for intern as they cannot give return offer. Output wise intern does not worth the pay and mentor’s effort - it’s more like a try out for FTE.

Maybe they are aware chances of getting H1B are lower now so they don't want to risk it candidate not getting it?
