Hello, I logged into workday today and noticed that my role is no longer under my manager in the org chart. It’s now under my manager’s manager who is a VP. Is this a bad sign? Any workday experts please advise. EDIT I should also add that my promotion was announced recently and it takes hold today. Would that be a reason for this glitch? Could it be that there is some kind of workday process that needs to be approved by the VP?
No they’re both still there. But my role in the org chart has been moved to report to my manager’s manager rather than mg manager as original
Workday updates can be wonky. Give it a few days.
For those who voted yes can you please expand? Do you all think I’m getting laid off here?
Wow lots of yes responses. I’m kind of freaking out.
Maybe I should have added that today is when my promotion actually takes hold. I was promoted 3 months ago but I was told it would become valid on May 1st. Could that be it instead?
Stop panicking. This could be due to multiple reasons and layoff is definitely not one of those. Chill the buck dude.
I’m very close to start applying to other companies. I’m pretty concerned. Lots of yes responses in the poll.
I'd say it's more likely your manager is getting laid off. Typically when a manager is laid off or otherwise leaves their position, all of their direct reports just roll up to the next higher rung in the chain.
Really? I’m the only one out of the whole team reporting to him which is like 7 people.
TC and yoe?
250 / 10
Your tc doesn’t seem to be from a pandemic frenzy hiring. So you should be fine most likely.
Why is this concerning? Why would your skip want to deal with the paperwork of laying off someone, when your manager could just lay you off? More likely that your old manager is being laid off, or leaving the company. The default course of action is to take all people management responsibilities from that person
Even if I’m the only one out of all employees reporting to him?
Ok then that’s fking weird
