So I have an offer as a Senior SWE at Wayfair in the Android department. I'm trying to get a better gauge on how the workplace is. From my interview it feels like there may be a lack of senior knowledge as well as organization. I think there are a lot of positive things as well. Can anyone shed some light on the engineering life here?
What does the offer look like
100% sure lots of stocks and low cash offer...oh and their stock has lost ~25% since March.
It’s hilarious how consistent you are. Every single post about wayfair you make sure to let everyone know how much you hate it.
Toxic culture, technical incompetence and since the product director took over apps turnover has sky rocketed in that area...good luck?
Didn't you already leave the company? Don't you have something better to do than trash a former employer constantly in every post on Blind?
Hi HR! Gotta warn the masses, don’t make the mistake I did.
Have you not seen this thread? https://us.teamblind.com/s/ZugudZpq
Yikes, 😕
I heard it's a raging dumpster fire.
At a senior level I wouldn’t suggest it, unless you really have a drive to make a difference because you’re passionate about your work. There’s so many L1 engineers that are out of control with no direction or organization, for sure. Plus you’ll probably get a higher offer if you go anywhere else.
What's the offer?
I like the Android team. They do need senior help. And they are good people. However they are not shielded from the shit show that is developer platforms and the management of most of the other teams. If you think you can make a change then join. But if not it will lead to your frustration.
Currently working as an android dev. I personally think that the android team is good, there’s a lot of potential for opportunity to lead a project and have your own mini team. There’s a shortage of android engineers and people are very willing to change for something that’s better. The negative posts expressed at the whole of Wayfair seems to less applied to Android because we are on a different platform and have our own rules of doing things. Just my opinion though. In the end, the decision is up to you

What happens when most of your team is Indian?
Great WLB (40 hours) at least compared to what I've heard at EA.
