Working at the big 4

Hi I'm a 21 year old who wants to work at the big 4. I'm sorry if you guys had to answer this question so many times, but I want to know the objective opinion on my chance of working at the big 4. These are what I have until now ● Goes to Kyung Hee University (top 31 ranking in Asia) majoring International Studies. I joined the army after my first semester of sophomore. ● Currently doing military service as a KATUSA (Korean Augmentation to the United States Army) in USFK. End of service on 2021 March other misc. ● ACT : 30 / TOEFL : 110 / TOEIC : 985 Is University important when applying for the big 4? or is it purely based on skill? I want to work in the big 4 as a software engineer. To do this, I would have to do double major in computer science? (I saw that computer science degree was required by Google) Plus, even though I enjoyed coding since I was in high school watching CS106a/CS106b and doing leetcode, I'm not sure if just doing leetcode on my own would be enough. Also, I'm open to doing any other positions such as marketing director, product manager etc.. I have plenty of time in the military as my unit don't work much. Any advice on what I should do? Thank you so much for reading. Every comment means a lot to me #career #tech #facebook #amazon #netflix #google #microsoft #uber #lyft #airbnb #softwareengineer #softwareadvice

You have to get an interview somehow. After that, the only thing that matters is Leetcode

Any advice on getting the interview? What they would look for in the application? or getting a referral?

I look at what sort of work you have been doing and if you’re about to graduate then I look at some of your academic projects. I rarely look at the school but that’s just me. I’ve had a chinese colleague who would only interview people from the top10 univs but I thought that was stupid bc I only care for your interest and skill sets to match the problems at hand. If you need referral happy to provide.

You need a CS degree otherwise it’s unlikely ur H1b will be approved.

I’m not clear on what you are asking. The Big 4 are Deloitte, PWC, EY, and KPMG. There are software engineering jobs available at those companies.

Many tech companies' HQs are in the US, so more opportunities there. If you want to work in the US, your chances will be higher if you study in US. Many people study masters to increase their chances of getting h1b.
