Anyone here work on any Ads product at their companies and would like to share thoughts about career prospects? Is it really a safe bet with good money and plenty of opps?
Anyone doing so at Google? Is it really as complex as hiring managers make it? How long did it take to understand the product before making valuable design contributions?
Ads is an evergreen domain and will not go away. Its been there from day 1 of internet and will be there till people are visiting or using products online.
Not day 1 of internet, but it caught on in the 90s to pay .com bills. The original designer of digital ads regrets it.
Understanding the Ad Tech domain is not difficult at all. Took me a month in an Ad-tech(not google or facebook) company to start doing product design. I can see if you are doing product management that it might take little more time. The company i worked for had around 20 product managers managing the ad tech product both the supply and demand side.
I do at Facebook. I think it is a safe bet with good money and plenty of opportunity :)
Could you please elaborate?
Are you at FB ? Come talk to Tom H who runs design for Ads, he will give you plenty of detail
