Worth going Workday P3 from Amazon (path to SDE 2)?
I’m in the promo path of SDE 2 in Amazon and I’m kinda happy with my team. A recruiter from Workday reached out to me and the position he said was P3 which is more than SDE 2. The salary will be 15-20% more than my current salary, despite being more high level. I guess I will get the kinda same raise after the promo anyway. Also, he mentioned It will be a new product and will have to use XpressO language. Worth a try If I’m happy in Amazon but want to explore new opportunities? TC 170K Total YOE 4
Why would you want to work in a proprietary, non-transferable tech stack… to build an outdated product that virtually all of its users hate? XpressO isn’t even a language. It’s point-and-click.

Also ask your recruiter about the new promo policies, that may influence your decision as well.
Get promo at Amazon then aim for P4/Senior at Workday (non XO team) or elsewhere.
If it was a normal back end team I’d say go for it in this case no. Actually if you want to dm me the prospective team I can tell you if it’s worth
Do not do XO
Do not come in as P3 if you are on track of SDE II at Amazon, terrible move. Workday introduced new promo guidelines meaning basically impossible to promote to P4 until you’re P3 for 3 years. Also SDE II at Amazon should already have pay close to what P4 makes at workday.
