Screw it. Don't care anymore. Let Israel take it. One state solution.
I had a zoom screen for a staff eng position with the hiring manager & then they are asking me to take an assignment. I completed the 1st part of it, but they want it to run in a unix environment which needs some set up on my windows machine. Is it worth spending extra time to complete this? #slack #salesforce
At staff level take home assignment sound very odd to me. And why do they require the result to run in Unix environment ? Is it not enough if you share the result and code , it should be enough for them to review and evaluate. Unrelated, why do you still use windows ? Isn't Mac/ Linux ,the more popular environment for writing code these days ?
Never do take homes unless you are desperate. The ratio of time it will spend you to do the assignment versus the company reviewing the assignment is too large. Even if they say “spend only 2-3 hours max” you will be competing with other applicants that spend much more time under the disguise of “2-3 hours” Plus, you won’t receive any feedback and generally they can be super picky. Look for a way to spend equal time with a company’s engineer to interview. Some companies have this option.
Great point
For a staff role they want home work? Are they hiring kids?
Why on earth are you using windows? It's worth removing that from all your machines just for your own sanity, bonus points if it's useful for your interview.
If setting a Unix environment is that much of a challenge, you're probably not ready for a staff position at a non- Windows shop.
Fyi, almost every 1 in Google works in Linux.I am asking if it's worth spending time to set it up on personal 💻
Clicking like 5 buttons to launch a free GCP instance is hard? You could have spent less time launching that instance than asking us. GCP has an always free tier that is basically a small little dev machine. Just launch, ssh, you are good to go. Since you said Unix and not Linux, look into the FreeBSD instance. Are you sure it's not Linux?
Does Slack staff sde map to LMTS or pmts in Salesforce?
Someone is trolling
market out there is hiring without interviews. slack of all places is definitely not worth it
Who hires without interviews?
