I’m wondering if it’s worth staying on with the company being acquired by Oracle, or if I should jump ship now. I’ve got an offer from another company that is similar comp, but much better benefits than the current ones. Not sure how it compares to Oracle benefits. Or would it be worth staying on at Oracle for a couple years for the resume, and then jump ship? Obligated TC: 110k #tech #oracle #cerner #benefits
Wouldn't jump for similar comp unless your work life is bad (and you think the company who offered would be better). IMO, the acquisition isn't a direct factor. If you're happy with your work and continuing to learn/grow, then I'd consider staying. On the other hand, if you want to chase higher compensation, keep interviewing
My work is okay, could be working on better tech which could be possible in Oracle. Base pay is similar, but the benefits is the main difference that would equate to a net gain of about 15-20% raise from my current role.
If they keep you on after acquisition, probably a really good place to be.
I’m not a part of a redundant group as an engineer, so I feel a bit safer than some. But I know it’s still not a 100% guarantee
Wouldn’t acquisitions tend to lead to layoffs… esp. for overlapping functions ?
Definitely a risk. The company has already done 3-4 layoffs in preparation of the acquisition
Best to leave, oracle will keep your pay low
How does Oracle handle their compensation / reviews / raises?
If it's non OCI, definitely don't join. Been part of acquisition, only got 4% bump. 4 years with non OCI, only 10% increment till date.
I’d jump ship.
Best to jump ship but I would suggest to keep looking for a higher pay. When Netsuite was acquired by Oracle, they retained the employees but removed the bonuses.
Benefits are better at Oracle.
You could get a retention bonus or a paod severance when they fire all the acquisition people
Possible. I see severance as more likely than retention bonus unfortunately
