Some startups can't bear transaction and payment processing fees. So, if the app forces customers to do only ACH and paypal payment options, would you be frustrated as an user? For further purchases, no need to verify ACH (similar to no need to enter card details every time)
SJWATER.COM also does that Can't believe I'm in the silicon valley
Pass that charge to users like most of gov websites do. Tell them if they choose to pay by CC or DC, it’ll be x.yz% extra
This. I would go through the hassle of ach if this option was present.
I’m sorry but I’m not giving out my routing/checking number. I don’t even use debit cards directly. I always use credit cards cause of the 0 fraud liability, and just pay the balance off monthly
Reaching for your credit card takes as much effort as reaching for a check book. However, ACH gives companies too much access to your bank account. ACH transactions are harder to block if anything goes wrong. Paypal is easier rn.
ACH only = death
PayPal is fine for me, ACH is not.
Use plaid
I wouldn't be "frustrated as a user". I would no longer be a user.
There's no universe in which only accepting ACH is acceptable. The money you'll save on CC fees will be dwarfed by the customers you'll lose who are sketched out. At the very least accept Paypal. Otherwise if the 2.x% + 30c fees will make or break your business, you're not charging enough or your business isn't financially viable.
Startups that want to fail do this
