Obviously not. Not everyone has time to contribute to open source projects or push their code to their personal github.
No
Am I an asshole or the questions are getting more and more stupid? Please tell me it's the first
It’s the latter
No one gives a hot shit about your GitHub
yup i ain’t never had one, just some throwaways for tutorials
I don’t even notice if they have one or not
Unless you’re the top 1% of people building something that everyone uses, no.
If they link to an empty profile or only forked repos then yes, seen this in CV’s way too many times! Would a designer link to an empty portfolio?
Yes GitHub profile adds authenticity to your profile. If you don’t have one and there is a close call between 2 people. Person with GitHub profile will get the job as you can see their contribution etc
No man people with faang experience will get the job
Big tech is all about leetcode so they will attract people who are leetcode monkeys. Other companies will attract talent based on actual expertise for example: Netflix , Apple, Slack, Databricks , Stripe etc So, it’s all about what is the right strategy for hiring for the company imo. Excessive leetcode leads to many false positives because these folks keep on hopping without actually delivering something and developing expertise.
Yes they need to make at least 1k commits to top 100 repos
