Help folks - Blackbagged from doordash after working for 2+ years , no pip , no indication , just direct termination after a questionable 1:1 with manager last week. Additional details Have to support family of 4 ( spouse also doesn’t work), - was sacked 1-week before stock vesting (Nov 20th) , - given 6 weeks of severance - May have visa issues Please provide any suggestions and help for wrongful employment termination lawyer ( bonus if know of anyone who have worked on doordash cases) Thank you and god bless. #doordash #lawyer-referral For folks pming - No clear indication of performance concern raised such as 1:1 s docs or pip/ steering plans. and Meeting expectations rating in yearly reviews and mid year (I did not see this rating but as per shared by the manager in 1:1s) Concerns raised subjectively - communication it good, documentation is unclear - stakeholders not happy ( no mention of actual names and concerns) - support tickets are taking too long( my team has big tech debt / infrastructure issues going on) Location: USA
Pretty sure you signed a thing saying they don’t have to provide any reasoning for ending your employment. They can simply just do layoffs. It doesn’t have to have anything to do with your performance.
Unless you can prove discrimination (not easy), you really don't have a case.
Sorry about this. Any indication of what the 1:1 was around?
Nope it was our normal scheduled 1:1 , manager requested to move it later in the day but when I joined HR was present on the call and manager also joined few minutes later.
Wow sounds like a disgusting practice. Was your manager forced by HR to fire you? Is doordash having a Quota to fire engineers? Is this happening across the company? What is the internal blind channel claiming?
The country this happened in affects your available remedies. Where? US, UK, EU?
Welcome to the good ole USA where employers can fire you for just about anything that isn't a protected class or some serious fuck up on their end. I'd be very surprised if a lawyer had interest in this without some major wrong doing.
While it may sound harsh, this happens all the time. At least you got a severance. Suck it up and look for a new job. “Have to support family” - been in a tech job, nothing saved for a rainy day? Don’t get me wrong, I’ve been thru this just like many many others.
This company is shit
What Op is saying is it true ?
What were the concerns raised by the manager?
