I am currently a full time employee, I recently been offered a contract role as a SWE for Bank Of America. My current manager countered with 110k#engineering #software #swe I was a contractor before and it was dreadful to get full time. That’s why I’m hesitant even tho the pay will be higher but there’s no benefits or bonuses being a contractor. TC: 85k BOA: 130k
I regret it and now the bank of america has a new policy starting May 6th that every quarter I have to take one week off no pay. I left a job that was 90K now I'm at around 135k but with all this mandatory off I'm really at 120-125k . Also the work is so boring I was working on bleeding edge technologies before and here there are so many process I really code about 3 hours a day the rest is meetings and processes. Before I left my old company counter me 115k I should of tooken that take the counter offer
In the current market, NO. If you have additional income in the family that takes care of insurance, eventualities, then you can try it. Even then the difference in ur current TC to contracting TC is not gr8.
