I understand that YTD is year to date return of mutual funds (I.e. from Jan 1). So if I have an S&P 500 fund, it should should show return as 1-2%. However Vanguard still shows around 20%. Am I missing something?
It could be as simple as when they update the YTD calculation. Or it could be a bug However, if you want to be a PITA about it, you can call them and inform them that the value constitutes a āmaterial misrepresentationā about the performance of the fund and they would jump on it immediately.
I donāt this itās a bug. This happens across all funds and all websites.
All websites or all Vanguard websites. For mutual funds that do return calculations monthly they may not want to display 0% for all of January. However Iām now curious as to why you need the number?

They're probably annualizing your gain. That means, you've gained at a rate of 20% per year, so far this year.
