Yelp London offer

Got initial numbers from yelp London. I was offered IC2, 75k gbp base, 70k$ rsu and 15k sign on an relocation. 5% bonus My yoe is 5.5 and I'm a T24 at PayPal. I believe the right level map would be IC3, and my interviews did go pretty well. Can someone suggest how do I go about negotiations. Should I directly ask for a level bump or ask for more Tc, I had 85-90k base and 150k$ in mind, is this possible for IC2 assuming they don't give level bump? Also, how does yelp compare to PayPal in general. Current tc: 46lpa, Bangalore #tech #offer #london #facebook #google

Is IC2 like L4? And how were your interviews?

PayPal rychfghu OP Dec 28, 2020

L4?

Uber 8#(+2892 Dec 28, 2020

Yes, IC2 maps to L4.

Did you check levels.fyi? Also, if you ask for a level rise, it will not work. Get a competing offer and fight them against each other.

PayPal rychfghu OP Dec 28, 2020

I did check, competing offers in India would work?

Have you considered whether you would be able to save at least the same amount that you are saving in Bangalore? If yes what do you think you will be able to save in London based on what compensation Yelp has offered you right now?

PayPal rychfghu OP Dec 28, 2020

Savings will be approx same or a little more. Around 24L

Qubole mnopqrst Dec 31, 2020

Converting savings to Rupees only matter if you plan to go back to India after some years.

Not sure about the salary but to speak for my experience for leveling, I also got IC2 when I should have matched at IC3 (I was IC2 in my previous job but there were 3 levels below me - at Yelp, 2 level below me but I didnt know at the time. So, yea I screwed myself in a way). IC2 for 5.5 year experience is definitely a low ball

I'm out of credits, can you please dm me, need some details.

can I dm you @okay? I saw some good match positions in Yelp London. yoe: 1.5, TC: 55k (not london)

For 70K you will get around 3500GBP on hand. If you are a bachelor then you can definitely save around 20L but don’t hope to save much in Europe.

PayPal rychfghu OP Dec 28, 2020

If I'm saving the same amount as I'm in India and getting to have high qol of London, isn't that a win win? Don't forget the rsu and bonus which might increase my savings

PayPal rychfghu OP Dec 28, 2020

Also, I wanted some opinion on what should I ask more for, do you happen to know Amazon L5 london comp?

Walmart CiSf32 Dec 29, 2020

OP - Check what base FB gives for L4 and then see how closer you are to that base. That way, you can understand how lower you are getting paid. Just for your understanding, FB pays 102k as base for L5.

60k GBP for E3. 80k for E4. 100k for E5 (base)

PayPal rychfghu OP Dec 29, 2020

Thanks. How about rsu?

Yelp yelwpages Dec 30, 2020

New grads get 100k RSUs for Yelp Hamburg and London.

Base for new grads?

PayPal rychfghu OP Dec 30, 2020

Are you sure? I saw one more offer with 65k rsu at 2 yoe

Hey OP, which profile did you apply for? Also, can you please share your interview experience?

PayPal rychfghu OP Dec 31, 2020

Swe. It was regular, hackerank. Phone screen then 4 rounds of onsite. LC medium at the most

Qubole mnopqrst Dec 31, 2020

Hey, thanks for sharing and congrats on the offer.

Yelp asottile Jan 1, 2021

Maybe you could get 75 base... but above about there you'd have to convince someone you're IC3. Probably the only way to do that is have another London offer in hand. They won't care at all about a competing Indian offer. My guess is your interview didn't go as well as you thought it did, so the HM is down leveling you accordingly.

PayPal rychfghu OP Jan 1, 2021

Any idea how long it might take to get promoted to IC3, and how much bump will I get once I get promoted?

Yelp asottile Jan 1, 2021

If you are actually absolutely outstanding, 1 year is reasonable. It could be faster too, assuming you were borderline IC3. Re comp bump, no idea. Depends on how fast you achieve? Probably 10pct, but with a high degree of uncertainty

Hi OP! What was your final call, did you accepted the offer?
