Yelp Search UX team reviews

I received an offer from Yelp and they said they've chosen Search UX as the team that I will be put on. I am curious if anyone here knows what this team does? I am backend software engineer.

Good product. It’s the main part of Yelp

Filled with new grads, leaderless product, run by a new grad director

The director in question was indeed a university graduate who spent all of her career at Yelp. Luckily, unlike our previous SVP, she was recently demoted to just an engineering manager. SearchUX itself has been faced with the sudden departure of the consumer product VP, and is desperately hoping “personalization” takes off in the meanwhile. It’s a mixed bag, OP.

That second person is trooolling hard. It's a well established team, with plenty of share of long tenured employees, a better than average team culture, a data driven product roadmap and plenty of things to work on and own. The director isn't a new grad, what a dumb lie. It's reasonable to ask your recruiter to get you in touch with someone from the team to email or get coffee. There is a lot more detail they could give but basics are: for this team backend means services and code to support feature development, and is separate from the search infra that powers result ranking or the datastores. It's an end user oriented team, so there is close collab with product managers. Check the news for a search project that hit a big milestone recently (personalized results). I'd recommend it if you're into this kind of work.
