Why is Yelp only focused on location based ratings with long reviews? There is such opportunity for reviews beyond location such as products, events, activities, even people. Are there no product managers at Yelp?
Why doesn’t glassdoor do reviews for restaurants?
I think the space is already saturated
There is not a central source for reviews. Google does reviews kind of well but you can’t really get to them easily if your only goal is to find them. Amazon product reviews are fake.
You have no clue, most of google reviews are pretty garbage…if there is one thing that Yelp does well is reviews
Yelp should start selling books online to compete with Barnes n Noble
Lol wut
They should also add reviews for apps and then obviously have a store for the apps too
Yer dum
Absolutely bonkers @Intel
Intuit should start selling movie tickets too ;-)
I thought they did
We do. Dresses too
You will be surprised, Yelp has more than 6000 employees
To do what? Are they eating at every restaurant to confirm ratings?
No we don’t, it’s like 4500 today
Yelp exists to connect consumers with great local businesses. Adding reviews of products, activities, events, or (yikes!) people only dilutes that value. That’s also why you can’t review something like (the company formerly known as) Facebook, or the app currently known as Facebook. Those are virtual experiences that generally do not represent anything like an authentic customer experience.
Buy why? It seems unnecessarily narrow and is being overtaken by google and other experiences
But why not add more granular ratings? If I want the best burger in town, that will never be at 5 star restaurant. It will never be at the restaurant with the most mentions of "burgers." It will be at a 3 star restaurant, with 1 star decor, and 5 stars of beefy cheesy goodness.
Facebook but you review your friends ⭐⭐
We're experimenting with product based and non location specific ads/listing Its in the same direction

Women, help me understand why this is inspirational
Too busy shaking down small biz to delete bad reviews.
I never understood how this rumor could still be around… Yelp would be a hell of a lot more profitable if sales reps could offer that, not to mention how incredibly easy it would be to prove with most deals closing via email. Yelp laid off more than half of the sales force at the beginning of the pandemic and accelerated a shift to self serve, non-term advertising more similar to a Google Adsense model so most don’t even talk to a sales person at this point. Go ahead, start a small business account see if you can get a review deleted! The misinformed moral superiority is rich coming from someone at Booz Allen, who literally scammed taxpayers out of money with the Homeland Security contracts of the early 2000s, and you know, Snowden.
