Just got an offer for an L4 Policy Lead role at YouTube/Google (non-tech). Advice on how to counter is greatly appreciated! - Base: $114k - Bonus: 15% (non-negotiable) - Equity: $100k/4 years (front loaded at 33% in years one and two) - Sign on: $15k (although I have to pay $15k back for my Twitter sign on) Year 1 TC: $180k (with sign on) Year 2 TC: $165k Location: Fully remote in CO Background: 2 YOE + masters Current TC: $175k Looking to exceed current TC.
Hey, tbh if you’re not a JD, then the TC sounds reasonable for a remote non tech policy role. I would ask for a higher base and less rsus though.
What role "Policy lead" isn't a job ladder
That’s the job title on the job post and all my correspondence with the recruiter? It’s with YouTube if that makes a difference.
Update: After negotiating, the best and final offer was: - Base: $120k - Bonus: 15% - Equity: $118k/4 years (front loaded) - Sign On: $22k Year 1 TC: $199k Year 2 TC: $177k All I did was ask! Probably could’ve gotten equity up higher, but cared more about base.
I’m looking for advice on what to counter with/trying to figure out what the L4 pay band looks like, “New.”
if you don't have competing offers, nothing. Your only move is "give me more or I'll leave", which depends on if you're ok with them rescinding or not.
