I've been seeing a couple posts about working on a side hustle project and I've always wanted to do something similar with the whole ”recommendation algorithm” thing What if, instead of the BS recommendation algorithm channels on YouTube, twitch etc...have to be ”lucky” to get the algorithm blessing, essentially RNG, there would be a video app but videos get recommended based on ”merit”? Also, I think comments are stale and old, it's about time for something more ”unique” 😉 If you're interested in hearing more, DM.
In other words, everyone will have an equal chance of being visible. Instead of basing it on algo blessing and luck, it would be based on tangible effort. Of course scale would pose a challenge but that can be discussed in later stages
What do you mean does something? It sounds more like the algorithms
Like for example, imagine verified youtubers. They ignore the general populous once they become famous. And they stop reading comments. But on this app, the more the ”verified” channels interact with their viewers, the more ”merit” they receive. That's one instance
How will you host? On YouTube, 500 hours of video are uploaded every minute
Those are technical details that can be explored later. First comes the brainstorming 😬

But that's what it sets it apart: no reco
Why would the average person download your app? What’s the immediate benefit to him?
“equally” = “random” on viewer side. Why I’d this app for?
That's the thing: it's not random

What do you mean based on merit?
Inspired from the magic king in black clover, where he tells asta in order to become king, you need merit. Jokes aside, I think the more a channel does ”something”, the more merit it gains and merit is exchanged for positioning on the app
