Sundar today at earnings call announced Youtube Premium has 80 million paying customers. Apparently they actually hit this number in Nov 2022 so probably have more now https://blog.youtube/news-and-events/youtube-music-premium-80-million-lyor-cohen/ 80 million x $13.99 per month x 12 months = $13.4 billion 😲 per year
It's only 200Rs in India, might want to adjust ur calculation
Yes and India have a lot paying customers.
Annual is $120
🤦pricing is not the same in every country. And membership is probably popular in lower income countries where Apple Music and Spotify don’t compete too much
Just switched over from Spotify the other day!
Does YT music have a great list of songs in their database, like Spotify and Apple Music ? I quit Spotify too but for Apple Music
It has all but 1 song I had saved on Spotify. I've been listening to a lot of covers lately, and Spotify doesn't have many of those so that was another plus. I primarily switched over because I wanted Premium for convenient offline watching I'm going to need soon. I realized it came with Music, so didn't really feel like paying for both subscriptions. If I'm happy with it the next couple of months, then I'll stick with it.
Holy cow
Yeah based on the other comments, sounds right, so more likely $6B.
Yeah, it's by far the most worth paying for of any streaming service. No one can compete with YouTube for both quality, quantity and variety of content. I would give up every other streaming service I own before YT Premium. And then you get YT Music too, which if I didn't have decade + worth of playlist on Spotify I would be plenty happy to use.
It replaces ads, I am not sure it moves the needle that much.
Not surprising. YouTube is massive.
