Article was fine until it became nonsense with the D&I twist

Microsoft amaznpiped Sep 10, 2022

Every company seems to be learning from Amazon, no rest n west. 🙂😢

Amazon bry47 Sep 10, 2022

And Amazon learned it from MSFT who likely learned it from GE.

Varis madokami Sep 10, 2022

Are they gonna pay like Amazon?

VMware vCzq1 Sep 10, 2022

My friend in google takes 8 weeks pto every year

Verkada work-harda Sep 10, 2022

Can non senior engineers rest n vest ?

Google chuseok Sep 10, 2022

Rest and vest is gone—meanwhile, all you can eat buffet is still here to stay. There are many Americans going hungry nowadays. The Google soup kitchen, however, always has a full stockpot.

So junior employees are clear

VMware vCzq1 Sep 10, 2022

My friend at L5 takes 8 weeks off every year. So i guess juniors can take appx 16 weeks off

Intuit TRrv02 Sep 10, 2022

Thats cool some companies give infinite holidays:D

Ascension panda1738 Sep 10, 2022

What rest and vest means?

Deliveroo For real? Sep 10, 2022

Employees who do the bear minimum in a company and stay just to enjoy the stock appreciation.

Ascension panda1738 Sep 10, 2022

Thanks brother! This term is only applicable for employees with a big salary + stocks, isn’t it? I’m sure there are many underpaid people who don’t want to overwork just for management’s “thanks”

Google sunshine ☀️ Sep 10, 2022

Call me when they fire all the know-nothing VPs.

Amazon bry47 Sep 10, 2022

Those VPs know politics and will survive. It will be mostly L4’s and under picking up this tab, same as Amazon.

Imagine that - asking people to actually work for a living...

Twilio jd73h38ri Sep 11, 2022

Two things that amazed me most when I joined Blind. First was generally all these massive salaries people were getting. Second was that at a company like Google you could be earning those high salaries and apparently barely even working - and it was just a known thing.

Pinterest Lyvx21 Sep 11, 2022

Fwiw most folks who claim to barely work actually work more than they'd admit to themselves

Microsoft 大鸡把 Sep 11, 2022

^ exactly. Like 4-5 hours of focused productive work per day probably already puts you in the 80th percentile of productivity for white collar workers. If that's "rest and vest" for some but it's actually above average.
