Every company seems to be learning from Amazon, no rest n west. 🙂😢
My friend in google takes 8 weeks pto every year
Can non senior engineers rest n vest ?
Rest and vest is gone—meanwhile, all you can eat buffet is still here to stay. There are many Americans going hungry nowadays. The Google soup kitchen, however, always has a full stockpot.
So junior employees are clear
What rest and vest means?
Employees who do the bear minimum in a company and stay just to enjoy the stock appreciation.
Thanks brother! This term is only applicable for employees with a big salary + stocks, isn’t it? I’m sure there are many underpaid people who don’t want to overwork just for management’s “thanks”
Call me when they fire all the know-nothing VPs.
Those VPs know politics and will survive. It will be mostly L4’s and under picking up this tab, same as Amazon.
Imagine that - asking people to actually work for a living...
Two things that amazed me most when I joined Blind. First was generally all these massive salaries people were getting. Second was that at a company like Google you could be earning those high salaries and apparently barely even working - and it was just a known thing.
Fwiw most folks who claim to barely work actually work more than they'd admit to themselves
^ exactly. Like 4-5 hours of focused productive work per day probably already puts you in the 80th percentile of productivity for white collar workers. If that's "rest and vest" for some but it's actually above average.
Article was fine until it became nonsense with the D&I twist
