We are still hiring. https://techcrunch.com/2020/04/07/restaurant-management-platform-toast-cuts-50-of-staff/ https://www.axios.com/ezcater-corporate-catering-unicorn-lays-off-hundreds-084d76ff-45fc-4011-8121-e938924e3819.html
Wow. Toast just got hundreds of millions a month ago. Shit is hitting the fan hard.
Why is this surprising? They were incinerating cash way before the layoffs even occured.
I don't understand the accusation here. So it looks like Toast went out of their way to retain minority employees and laid off others. Laid off people got severance as it should be. Company wants to survive and people still employed would have higher workload as expected. I would imagine bigger backlash if mostly minority employees were laid off though. No winning here.
Yeah, at first glance it seems fair, but those left behind are doing more work for the same pay without any guarantee of additional support in headcount, compensation, or job security/ upward movement. The fair thing would be to cut across the affected departments w/o race as a factor to actually be a company that values poc employees on the same level.
Corporate catering company valued at $1.25B! WTF. I'm wasting my life here.
Why do you think Google tenure is only slightly greater than 3 years? Talent that don't get promoted go off to start their own business.
Then why is Amazon tenure 1 year 😂
