I have an offer from Zillow but concerned about the risk of layoffs there. Deciding if it’s worth taking a jump from Amazon to Zillow (same level, same salary, better culture supposedly). Those who are at Zillow - how safe does it feel these days? #zillow #pm #productmanager
You want to move out of Amazon to Zillow for same salary? Do it only if you are about to get fired. Else it will be a career stepdown and likely dead end.
Why dead end? My impression is that it’s easier to get promoted there. At Amazon, there are very few opportunities where I am currently and I’m being forced to move cities if I want to stay on my current team (I don’t). The moment I switch teams, that’s another 2-3 years for a promo and Amazon’s l6>l7 promo process is convoluted.
go on linkedin and do a people search for people who used to work at amazon and now work at zillow, see if its been a dead end for them lol. the difference in wlb alone makes it worth it too
Zillow did a lot of layoffs the last ~2 years. They may already be done 🤷
Seems pretty stable to me. We had a big layoff during Zillow Offers winddown end of 2021 and since then nothing major just some small layoffs usually targeted at certain business lines (ie not cost cutting related). CEO keeps bringing up that we have like $3b in cash reserves so seems like he's optimistic. I'd take Zillow for same pay over Amazon no hesitation. Wlb isn't universally good here, but on average probably much better.
Not sure sorry. A lot of our hiring is focused on Mexico City this year (cheap labor) with specific roles and backfills in US (remote). Number of openings is just kind of low right now and likely so at least through end of year. I would assume having Meta on resume would at least put you through to screen, but might not be the case. Maybe try connecting directly with recruiters or HM for any roles you find. The recruiting team(s) work closely with hiring managers so pretty sure if either person saw a potential good fit, odds of at least getting a call would be better
Yeah LinkedIn probably best bet. I know a lot of leadership or HM will crosspost their openings to LinkedIn so catching one of these posts is probably best bet. But probably hard to find organically unless you have huge LinkedIn network

Why is it so G*damn difficult to move money out of India
I have a friend at Zillow and they refused super high TikTok offers because they think Zillow is more stable.
