I recently got a verbal confirmation from my Zillow recruiter that they are extending me a P5 (Principal) offer! What compensation should I expect? Levels.fyi puts it at 350k TC, which is lower than my current comp. Can I expect it to break 380 to 400k? TC: 340k, SDE-3, 9 YOE. #zillow #tech #offer

350k TC seems about right.
Welcome! I got a p4 offer in Dec, here's the breakup: 192k base + 300k(4yr) rsu + 70k 1st year sign on and 40k 2nd yr sign on. Hope this helps.
At the time, it was higher than the avg posted on levels.fyi. 350k is in the ballpark for P5, which can change based on what other offers you may have.
whats the yor?
9
Yes, 9 yoe.
350k ballpark makes sense.
Given this, should I take or leave the offer?
Depends on your situation. I’ve met ex-Amazon product folks frustrated at Zillow, and ex-Amazon engineers very happy.
Why are the engineers happy?
Your tc will be high for the first two years bc of 2year signon bonus. You should be able to get 380-400k avg for the first two years
Okay, that’s good. 350 would’ve been a no go for me
If you're a strong hire you can expect an offer greater than 350k continuing. My data point is that I'm a P5 and new offers always make more than me. Probably something like 225k salary and 100-150k per year in stocks. Sign on will be maybe another 60-120k over the first two years (divide by 2)? I don't have much data for that part. Also don't expect stock to get much growth over the next 2 years or so. As long as the housing market is depressed so is Z.
I got roughly 340-350 as a P4 with sign on bonus included for the first 2 yrs so I would imagine p5 can get at least 400k

Do people underestimate E6 role at meta?
Is your current role at risk ? Zillow also recently had layoffs if I remember correct
Don’t think the current role is at risk, but you never know
You don't remember correctly. Haven't had tech layoffs since 2021.
