I finished my onsite (SWE for a games team) and am supposed to hear back this week on the results. I ended up really liking the team and company culture, and have become super anxious about the result. For the values b interview I’m not really sure if I nailed it or not. The interviewer was incredibly senior and didn’t give me much in terms of social cues. I did my best to ask the recruiter for lots of advice before hand. I think they prepped me super well on what was going to be asked and what the purpose of the interview was. I personally identified strongly with player experience first and execute with excellence and had various relevant stories prepped in advance in my notes. The deep tech interview wasn’t about deep tech at all. I interviewed for a games team, so it was more like a super high level design discussion of game implementations. I kept trying to dive into deeper topics of implementing individual systems, how they connect, and think I rambled a bit before having time to complete my thoughts on a couple topics. I had some confusion initially on what the interviewer was specifically asking for. Towards the end I got out a lot of solid info out as I eventually got a bead on what they wanted. I think the interview name is not apt — it’s not a deep tech conversation at all. My recruiter prepped me quite well, but I do think I got caught up in the name deep tech, so I’m left feeling like I didn’t perform well. But who knows, I really don’t know how I did here. I’m guessing “kind of ok”. Communication/collab. Seemed quite standard — do you work well with others and across teams, can you resolve conflicts professionally, how do you build an understanding of another’s point of view, can you make connections and find opportunities, etc. Broad tech — ironically this interview went much deeper on a specific interview question/problem than the deep tech interview. Confusing name, but by this time I knew the interview naming wasn’t apt and decided to ask a bunch more questions on what they’re looking for along the way. This one ended really early, as the interviewer said we covered every topic prepared much faster than normal. We hit a lot of interesting points and thoroughly explored the problem, leaving me with the feeling it went super well. Anyways I’m incredibly nervous. It helps to write all this down so it isn’t floating around in my mind. Wish me luck!
Good luck! Hope to work with you soon!
Writing things down has been shown to reduce stress, so you are taking a healthy step! It took me 6 months from initial recruiter contact to get my offer, so I definitely feel for you on the nerves front. Sounds like you had a good handle on the interviews though! Keeping my fingers crossed for you🤞
Good luck!
Good luck!!

How long to hear back?
