First offer for a “level 6” Senior Marketing role in Austin. I have 8 YoE. $105k Base 10% Annual Bonus $50/k total RSU over 4 years ($12.5k/year) Honestly, seems really bad. Could use some advice. Current pay is $185k (all base because contract (still paid as W2 via agency)). Update: Their second offer was ONLY a $5k bump to annual. That was it. Didn’t take it. #gaming #Compensation #zynga #pay #austin #tech
Cost of living in Austin is making that offer not close to looking good
Austin is high COL now?
Bro a quick google search will tell you. Everyone is moving there. My buddy is looking to buy a house there and he’s been putting in offers of $70k + over asking just to be out bid. Austin might be the hottest real estate right now in the country
Almost 30% less than you make now. That is a lowball
A full-time offer and a contracting gig are not the same. You cannot compare the TC 1to1.
@Staff Yes you can, because contract work isn’t as shit as it used to be. I’m paid W2, get insurance, and PTO.
Why would they offer something that is less to what your making now?
That’s rough imo
Lol you’re even considering this? Crazy lowball.
Not really, but it helps having other people confirm it’s low. Thanks! :)
Why are you considering a lower pay?
Where do you live now? Compare COL between locations.
...welcome to the game industry... 🤦♀️
I mean I guess? Even some other gaming companies would beat this offer by miles. Maybe not Blizzard though?
I recently got an offer from Amazon and they gave me me a pretty decent initial offer. I had the luck to have some friends in similar positions and discussed it with them, all of them out of the box told me to not settle to the initial offer and argue an offer that i could find based on recent data for similar positions and strike for the high end. If you passed the interview and got an offer you will not get rejected for negotiating. You could end up getting what you ask or you will get a response back with this is max we can offer at the moment. It all depends in the end of the company needs, how well you did in interview and what the recruiters ranges are. My advice is to look around, get a grasp, send the recruiter an email that you fell a more correct compensation will be in that range. Don't force the base or RSU, they might have limits on one but more free range on the other. Discuss in terms of TC and let the recruiter get back to you
