I'm an SDE II in Chicago right now. Trying to get a better position in Florida for personal and family reasons. Looking to join Citrix, Ultimate Software, Salesforce, or one of the other bigger companies. I've done 200 LC and got to final interview rounds at MS and AMZN in the last year. Would 120k TC be too much to expect? And should I also apply to startups and smaller companies? Or will they not pay enough? Current TC: 85k but with just 28 hours a week. YOE: 4.5 + 1 summer REU Thank you all. #Florida #FL #Citrix #TC
You can get 120 pretty easily. I'm in Florida at 140k.
That is reassuring to hear. Mostly, I'll be looking at big companies like Citrix for that, right? And another question if you don't mind. How does the TC structure look like typically over there? Is it mostly salary? Or are stocks/bonuses significant? For example, out of your 140k, how much of it is the base? Thank you for the information.
120 of mine is base, rest is bonus. There's actually a lot of companies that will pay in the mid 100s. Nielson, the banks, ultimate software, disney, universal. Just depends what part Florida you want to go to.
Is Florida a bad place to be for Indian/Asian people?
Been living and working in Jacksonville for over a year now and no issues. There are quite a few Indian families living at my apartment complex as well. I’d say stick to the cities and it will be fine.

15 years age difference, need advice! 🙏
85k is decent and 120k is great. Especially in Florida.
I think it's great too, that's why I wanted to know if it was too good to be true. :)
I didn’t want you to cloud your judgment with the guys in here saying I got a google offer for 600k a year. You can shoot for that if you want. But near 100k in Florida is a comfortable life. Especially if there’s no hard work involved or stress. Just making things seem more reasonable around here. However, if you want the high TC, then get after it. Life will be harder but the pay is much higher.
