https://fortune.com/2023/10/16/women-claims-mistreatment-carta-unicorn-startup/ Pretty damning article. Another Uber in the making? Given my own negative experience interviewing with Carta last year I am inclined to believe the allegations against them. Lawsuits, turnover, news articles not looking good..
If you posted this a couple of years ago, I would have dismissed it as bitter people who were looking too much for a reason, or at most, isolated incidents. Then I joined Roblox. I obviously don't work for Carta, but I have seen a toxic management culture essentially turn a company into a geriatric fraternity that allows, and even indirectly encourages some of this type of behavior (except for the sexual harassment, which I fortunately did not see or hear of). Many Roblox employees had to go Bloomberg to bring these issues to light since the entire management chain is rotten to the core and reporting up was worthless at best, retaliatory at worst. So, seeing Carta go through something similar sounds eerily familiar. So yeah, seeing something like this firsthand, I tend to believe this article as well
Funny enough Robolox reached out to me as well for an interview. Is it getting better?
I reported my manager for discrimination and they retaliated against me. So, you be the judge.
Is there any possibility for Carta to become public?
Iâm not longer at Carta but I doubt it, Henry the CEO has publicly stated he never wants to IPO his vision was to build a marketplace for private companies
Not in the near term. I think theyâll have to go public or get acquired at some point to to pay investors but thatâs probably 5+ years out.
Paywalled, what's the story here? Was it sexual harassment? If so, why the claim of toxicity? What does mistreated mean in this context? Was there something illegal here or is this a bait article designed to incite outrage cause dudes were talking football at the water cooler and high fiving each other?
Reader view on iPhone seems to bypass the paywall
It's a follow up article, there was another one about harassment allegations. Multiple people brought up claims of both sexual harassment and bully behavior from the top, including atleast one senior leader. They were all fired. I am not seeing a pay wall.
I canât believe this is still considered ânewsâ - nothing new about this. If youâve ever worked at Carta this is common knowledge.
It is news to me, I thought Carta was a cool company to work for.
Eh honestly my experience has been good but Iâm in a pretty sheltered/siloed org. YMMV

He also emailed that to every Carta customer today. TechCrunch: Cartaâs CEO reaches out to customers about bad press, alerting them to bad press https://techcrunch.com/2023/10/25/cartas-ceo-reaches-out-to-customers-about-bad-press-alerting-them-to-bad-press/
Ah, classic Henry.
