Anyone work here before as a engineer or tech that can shed some light on the culture experience or tc? #healthcare tc:155k nyc
The culture is just fine. The code is terrible if you work anywhere close to the clinical or research computing side. Trying to get anything done is an uphill battle.
Pretty horrible experience. MSK is low key racist and has been for decades. If you post anything on Glassdoor referencing this, they'll be quick to have it removed, which tells me that they know what they're doing. Their typical MO is hiring minorities into roles that they are significantly overqualified for when compared to white employees in the same title. Then they'll overwork the POC and focus on creating career path for the white employees. MSK brags about being diverse but look at the leadership. It's 90% white. Of course, places like these don't retain talent and the tech that is often bragged about is non-existent and laughable. Everyone there is hiding behind the name, but I'm guessing in 10 years time it'll come to be known that they are a hospital version of Theranos on the tech side.
I found the opposite where being white and male is a deficit — and probably why I did not get a raise even though I was promoted (in what MSK calls P levels).
strange, I never experienced this, and "white male" was a minority across all the teams I work on and work with. A significant percentage of the leadership I am familiar with were also non-"white male" too. Their tech is not anything fancy, but its not supposed to be, the result is what matters. And despite this, teams from other companies in the same fields have been clamoring to implement their methodologies for nearly a decade or more now and it does not show signs of stopping.

Job market is brutal for SWEs 🥲
Curious where you ended up. If I’d seen this earlier I would have said don’t go because of the CDO and digital reactivation.
I ended up leaving jpm. Culture there really sucked.. and been there for 4 years. What is the cdo and digital activation?
