I have an offer from booking. is it still a good idea to join the company after all this situation with covid and all changes in the tourism industry? didn’t find any information about layoffs, and wonder how things are currently with the company. #offer #career #tech #booking.com
There are layoffs happening in the industry - skyscanner is an example. I’d say if it hasn’t already happened, it’s imminent. Check this out https://www.theinformation.com/briefings/40ee0c
What’s the offer and current TC
Offer has tc of 90k euro
"TC". Cute. There won't be any bonuses any time soon, so expect to only get base.
Seems ideal time to take it. They will be bigger player with all the agencies closing —> TripAdvisor/trivago/Expedia hurting much more. Your stocks will be good 1-3 years out

How does it feel inside the company?
If you take it, know the risks: there is no money in Travel right now, and there won’t be for at least another 6 months...
Layoffs will happen. It's evident in travel industry. Read this : https://skift.com/2020/04/29/kayak-and-opentable-layoffs-and-furloughs-impact-400-employees/
Interesting to see that my offer was not canceled due to these coming layoffs
You probably got it before March 25th, anything afterwards is cancelled.
Yoj won't be facing layoffs otherwise they would have rescinded your offer. Also it's the Netherlands not the US wild job market you will have much more protection.
When did you get the offer? So weird since we are on the hiring freeze
Right before the shutdown
before lockdown? you may want to double check if the offer is still valid...
