Is Genocide Sometimes Understandable?
Received a letter from my previous employer (Medtronic) stating that they are concerned about my compliance with post-employment obligations - working with a conflicting/competitor company (Hologic). But Hologic is not a competitor, they make completely different products and the products i worked are completely different from my new role. How do I deal with this? Previous company: Medtronic - Manufacture Medical devices Current company: Hologic - Manufacture Diagnostic equipment #health #healthcare #medtronic #new #hr
As Wells Fargo stated, non-competes are hard to enforce. In some states - CA, ND, OK, District of Columbia - they are not enforced. A dozen other states do not enforce non-competes for lower wage workers. It does not sound like you are in a non-compete situation since you are working on a different product set in your new position. In the future do not share where you are going with your former employer and/or change your LinkedIn until after the non-compete period has passed.
Thanks, its CT, HR said since there is no issue of any product competition, shouldn’t be an issue but reached out to the legal team
Thank you, reached out to my current company legal team, no response from them yet, still waiting
Noncompete says cant be employed with conflicting org- engages in competitive products/research for 2 years after termination and don’t disclose confidential info.
Non competes are generally very hard to enforce, and typically would require the employer to have given something in return as well (they can’t be one sided). That said, if it were me I’d contact a labor attorney to be on the safe side, and wouldn’t talk with anyone about it in the meantime.
