Joining as swe new grad. Looking for career growth and no layoffs 😬 dont care about the tc difference. Anyone worked at both?
Linkedin pays 245 for new grad wow
It doesn’t for general SWE
It's for ML and Infra people with masters degree
Meta didn’t layoff that much but hey its WLB is even worse than TikTok. However, in year 2024 you will have zero career growth opportunities at both companies (actually, all the tech companies), so why bother suffering and grinding in such a toxic culture just for 10K more base? My experience at Meta is extremely awful, you will not understand it until you join them.
What’s the issue with Meta? I see lots of people in Meta staying there for 3-4 years on avg.
You just be kidding.. average tenure is like 1yr, I don’t know who told you they stay for 3-4 yrs lmao
LinkedIn has cut back on refreshers and promo refreshers. Long term you will make way more with Meta. LinkedIn culture has deteriorated and is now nowhere close to what it has been. Join Meta
The folks I know planning to leave Li all want to go to meta
+1 to this. LI is toxic as well for the most part. If you’re lucky, you’ll be in a non-toxic, non-ginger-pointing team and hopefully have a manager who doesn’t micromanage everything you do.
If you want money and growth: Meta
Meta refreshers will catch your TC to be equal or greater than LI after a year Edit: also LI culture is down now, many are looking to jump ship when market improves
Would go meta because you might work on something interesting
LinkedIn is not for growth
Did you intern at both? Pick the one you like better
20K is trivial in the prospect of career growth. Meta is an amazing place to be for tech. You’ll have good opportunities to grow as an engineer there than LI. I currently work at LinkedIn and the culture has degraded quite a lot in the last 2.5 years. I myself am planning to switch to meta in a few months after my next vest.
While I agree LI sucks, Meta has its own problems. You need to be able to play the PSC game and be able to find your on scope. Many people I know there are seeking exits for very different reasons.
True. Agreed. But from a career perspective I think one will learn more at meta than LI. Whatcha think?

Closed now - thank you all
LinkedIn has good culture. And you get lots of msft stock which is not as volatile as meta. I think layoff risk is high everywhere
Haven’t you heard? LinkedIn culture has nose dived.
Oh! My bad 😟
