I never do. I already did my research and the hard hitting questions I would genuinely like to ask I either don't think I'd get a real answer to or (more importantly) I would look like a bad candidate by asking. Especially when it's the 5th or 6th round interview. I feel like I'm supposed to ask a question though. So I just start mouth vomiting questions I don't care about. What do you ask? Any good stock question you keep in your back pocket? TC: 300k—but dropping along everyday with $DBX YOE: 11 #interview
That means you arent showing much interest
^ This.
I know I'm not _showing_ much interest, that's the problem. I am interested in the position—I'm just not interested in asking a question.
My favorite is asking “what created the need for this position. “
Hard pass if I get that question.
That's why you rot at Verizon :-)
“How’s the TC?”
thankfully I can get that answer from blind
“Based on our chat, is there any feedback or concerns about my fit for the role?” Gives you an opportunity to gauge what the interviewer thinks of you, and IF there are any concerns, you have a chance to explain yourself (saved me a couple times). If you’re at the 5/6th interview, idk how appropriate it would be. Just use your judgement.
No no no
they probably wouldn’t be able to tell you since you are putting the interviewer on the spot and sometimes it’s not even up to one interviewer anyway. It’s up to the hiring manager and HC.
I would ask about company culture and team culture. Vet out your manager and your skip and make sure it’s a secure and stable environment to work in and you have supportive teammates. I have 6 yoe now and through out my career I’ve never had stellar managers and did not realize it was that important until now. My current one is inexperienced but not bad enough for me to leave but people often quit managers. If I ever leave Dropbox you bet I will vet out the team I’m joining at a different company. I don’t care how much TC or prestige of a company label I get for my next job. If the manager sucks, he won’t be championing or mentoring me and I would probably never get promoted or get a raise anyway.
How is the work life balance?
Trolling?
it sounds like a decent option to me actually. A BS answer would likely be easy to see through
My go-to: “Why do you like working here? What keeps you motivated to come in and contribute everyday? “
You’re better off coming up with something you’d like to know
